Young God Recording Artist Larkin Grimm brings her brand of Appalachian freak folk sorcery to earshot while on tour with Vetiver (Sub Pop). Larkin stunned an intimate crowd a few months back when she played Greenville and will undoubtedly do the same with her beautiful voice and masterful guitar playing. "Born in Memphis and 'raised by the family dog' in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Georgia before attending Yale and traveling the world (befriending Thai strippers and Cherokee shamans along the way), freak-folk singer-songwriter Larkin Grimm's biography is as interesting, complicated and alluring as her music. But block out the all-too-perfect backstory hype for a minute and just listen to Grimm's music: it's equally beautiful, primal, weird, delicate and daring. (And it’s fitting that she shares a record label with the likes of Devendra Banhart.) Grimm howls, coos, chants, whispers, shouts and sings forcefully, as if physically willing her well-wrought songs forward—and her audience closer to the realm of true experience."
