JAMES MCMURTRY LIVE IN EUROPE *ON SALE*
Two disc (CD/DVD) live release from the acclaimed singer/songwriter. In early 2009, James McMurtry traveled overseas for his first European tour. The guys played for enthusiastic crowds in Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, The Netherlands, Scotland, and Belgium. Joining McMurtry's band on keyboards for the tour was the legendary Ian McLagan (who also played on McMurtry's latest studio album, Just Us Kids). McMurtry combined the best recordings from the Amsterdam and Geislingen concerts to create Live in Europe. The live album includes a bonus DVD featuring live video performances from the Amsterdam show. This marks the first time fans have been able to purchase video footage of McMurtry live in concert. |

According to the Raveonettes Sune Rose Wagner, it is incredibly hard being in a Danish rock n roll band cause of this damn thing we have called Jante Loven (Jante Law), which basically tells Danes not to feel superior to any other man, woman, child or beast. This translates into everyone being very scared of thinking highly of themselves and in the music world means that you re no better than this band or that band. Though Sharin & Sune love Denmark, they felt they had to leave in order to break the restricting chains of the Jante Law, but before they left, they hit up the Ministry of Culture for a couple of bucks in state sponsored tour support, called up Hilly Kristal and landed their first ever gig outside Denmark in the filthy, disgusting and legendary club known as CBGB s. Rolling Stone s David Fricke showed up along with 40 other paid admissions and the rest is pure rock n roll history... |

MAYER HAWTHORNE A STRANGE ARRANGEMENT CD 2009 debut album from the Michigan-bred Pop/Soul singer/songwriter. A Strange Arrangement draws from the inspiration of Leroy Hutson, Smokey Robinson and the legendary songwriting and production trio of Holland, Dozier, Holland. At the same time, it revels in raw the sounds of the independent (and often unappreciated) musicians who aspired to achieve a level of success akin to their famous peers. The album is full of original compositions (bar a cover of The New Holidays' 'Maybe So, Maybe No') that underlies a heartfelt nostalgia to the sweet Soul of yesteryear. 12 tracks.

THE ENTRANCE BAND THE ENTRANCE BAND CD/LP Welcome to the debut album by The Entrance Band, an incendiary, ten-song journey into the creative group-mind of three talented and inspired musicians; guitarist and vocalist Guy Blakeslee, drummer Derek W. James and bassist Paz Lenchantin. "We are all based in Los Angeles, California" says Baltimore native Blakeslee, "but our origins are in Chicago." The critically acclaimed LP Prayer of Death (2006) was recorded in Chicago under the name Entrance (a vehicle for mostly solo output by Blakeslee), with collaborative input from Lenchantin and James. All three players contributed to the recording process, but it was not until after the completion of that album that the band played live together as a trio for the first time. "This is the beginning," confirms Guy. "We've been together for three years, but this will be our first presentation to the world as a trio."

KURT VILE CHILDISH PRODIGY CD *ON SALE*
Philadelphia singer-songwriter KURT VILE (yes, that is his real name) makes his Matador debut with "Childish Prodigy." His second album (the first came out on the tiny Gulcher label, vinyl on Woodsist), it is a rich tapestry of rock and folk sounds, occasionally lo-fi, occasionally lustrous, hitting touchstones from Tom Petty to Street Legal-era Dylan to Spacemen 3 to Skip Spence. "Childish Prodigy" is more diverse than its predecessor, and ranges from pounding rockers like "Hunchabck" and "Freak Train" to gorgeous folky numbers like "Overnight Religion" and the soaring trumpet in "Amplifier." This is an absorbing and addictive record with layers and layers of discovery.

DOOMRIDERS DARKNESS COMES ALIVE CD *ON SALE*
Recorded and engineered at Godcity Studios by Kurt Ballou, "Darkness Come Alive" shows a more monstrous Doomriders emerging from the depths. Songs like "Jealous God" and "Heavy Lies The Crown" carry a precision and infectious quality that is rare to experience, while the title-esque track "Come Alive" is a stunning example of their new found muscle. The opening seconds of the aforementioned sets an electrifying backdrop before erupting into one of the most hook laden ebb and flows of recent memory. Effortlessly throughout the album they continue this bombardment, with rhythm section JR Conners (Cave In) and Jebb Riley (Disappearer) as the hurricane force wind at the back of Chris Pupecki's (Cast Iron Hike) riffs and Nate Newton's (Converge) gritty duel guitar/vocal attack. Shedding influences to stand with them as contemporaries, Doomriders "Darkness Come Alive" is a monumental full length achievement. Proving not only that aggressive music still has much to offer, but that Doomriders are, in fact, more soulful and heavier than all.
